Sobia Naz is a German-born artist whose practice is rooted in traditional Persian and South Asian Miniature Painting. She pursued this focus during her Bachelor's studies at the National College of Arts, Lahore (2002). She is academically trained in the traditions of Persian and South Asian Miniature Painting and is thoroughly experienced in employing these techniques in her own work.

In 2005 she moved to England where she earned her Master's Degree at the King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, London (2010) on the prestigious Jameel Scholarship. She subsequently served as a visiting tutor at the institution, teaching the Persian Miniature Painting course until 2016.
Her paintings are constructed in layers on hand-prepared Vasli paper using natural pigments derived from earth, minerals, and plants. This interest and exploration of pigments began during her Master's degree, and she remains inspired by the vast range of colours nature offers. It was also during this journey that she was introduced to Sacred Geometry, the pattern of creation reflecting balance and harmony in manifest reality. Geometry has since become an integral part of her art, guiding the composition and symbolism. The inspiration for her imagery stems from Sufi poetry and thought, which conveys mystical meanings that are beyond the visible world, affecting the exterior and interior of ones being.
Sobia is currently based in Dartford, Kent, UK and exhibits internationally.
